Project 52 | Week 19: Memorial

19/52 May 27… Memorial: Focus on Memorial Day ideas, what does this day mean to you?

Right away I thought of this place for this week’s theme… stopped by there with my son tonight, and he insisted on walking through the gardens to read every last memorial… Asking loads of questions like the day he did when I brought him here for the first time this past 9-11. “Did you know this person mom?”… “Why did this have to happen?”… “What if this was dad mom?”… Scary thing is, it could have been your dad, because that morning before the towers came down, he drove over the Verrazano Bridge on his way to work, and you were only two weeks old… By the time he read the last stone, he was in tears… We walked back to the car holding hands… while I was thanking God that we had his little sister and his father to go home to… and sad that many people don’t…
